When your skin feels tight after every wash, the first instinct is often to change your cream. Changing your soap comes to mind less often, yet it is the first thing that touches your skin, every day. Evabio's goat's milk soaps are designed for gentle washing, and the range offers several scents built around the same idea.

Goat's milk in soap

Goat's milk has long been used in soapmaking, where it replaces part of the water in the recipe. It produces bars with a creamy lather, popular for skin that lacks comfort. According to the rose soap's product sheet, goat's milk is known for its softening properties; this soap is made by the cold-process method and is naturally rich in glycerine.

What the whole range has in common: these are superfatted soaps enriched with goat's milk. Several are wrapped in transparent paper made from wood fibre, as their sheets indicate.

Which soap should you choose?

  • Neutral. According to its sheet, this is a superfatted soap with a neutral composition enriched with goat's milk, ideal for dry skin. The simplest option in the range, with no scent note mentioned on its sheet.
  • Lavandin. According to its sheet, lavandin gives it a subtle fragrance. Lavandin is a hybrid lavender, grown mainly in Provence, with a more camphor-like scent than true lavender.
  • Lemon eucalyptus. Its sheet describes it as extra gentle, designed for the driest skin, with notes of lemon eucalyptus and its fresh, lemony smell.
  • Rose. This soap pairs notes of rose, white flowers and musk with its goat's milk base, for lovers of floral scents.
  • Activated charcoal. This variation combines goat's milk with activated charcoal, for skin that tends to look shiny.

How to use it

  • Use lukewarm rather than hot water, which dries the skin more.
  • Lather the soap between your hands and wash gently, without scrubbing hard.
  • Rinse well, then pat dry with a soft towel.
  • If your skin is very dry, follow with a nourishing product on still-damp skin.
  • Keep the soap on a draining dish so that it stays firm.

Precautions

Good to know. For external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes; if it happens, rinse with clean water. If your skin is sensitive, choose the neutral version or try a scented one on a small area first. If your skin has a particular problem or reacts, ask for advice. Keep the soaps out of the reach of young children.
