Goat milk and lavandin soap: a fragrant evening ritual
Lavandin gently scents this superfatted goat milk soap. Find out what sets it apart from true lavender and how to turn your evening wash into a small relaxing ritual.

End of the day, soft lighting, warm water: sometimes a familiar scent is all it takes to draw a line between work and the evening. Lavandin, full-bodied and herbaceous, calls to mind the purple fields of southern France. In this goat milk soap it turns your evening wash into a short moment of sensory relaxation.
Lavender or lavandin?
The two are often confused, and with good reason: lavandin (Lavandula × intermedia) is a natural hybrid of true lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) and spike lavender (Lavandula latifolia). It grows into large clumps with long, generous flower spikes and is widely cultivated in Provence. Its scent is fuller and slightly more camphor-like than that of true lavender, which makes it a favourite in soap-making and for scenting linen.
What is in this soap
According to the product sheet (see the documentation tab), this is a superfatted soap with a formula enriched with goat milk, designed for very dry skin. Lavandin scents it "subtly": the fragrance is there without being overpowering. The bar is wrapped in transparent paper made from wood fibre.
A soap is called superfatted when a small share of the oils in the recipe is not turned into soap and stays in the bar. The result is a creamier lather and skin that feels more comfortable after the shower.
An evening ritual in four steps
- Prepare: air the bathroom, then close the door so the steam holds the scent. Warm rather than hot water is kinder to the skin.
- Lather: rub the soap between wet hands or on a soft sponge, and take a few seconds to breathe in the scent before applying it.
- Massage gently: wash with slow movements from shoulders to feet, without working too hard on areas that are already dry.
- Rinse and wrap up: rinse with clean water, pat dry with a soft towel and, if needed, apply a body cream.
A tip while you wait
Until you start using it, tuck the soap, still in its paper, into a wardrobe or linen drawer, where it will leave a discreet scent. Once in use, keep it on a well-draining soap dish so it can dry between washes.
Precautions
A few simple rules. For external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes and rinse thoroughly with clean water if it happens. If your skin is sensitive to fragrance, test the soap on a small area first, such as the inside of the elbow, before adopting it; stop using it if you feel any discomfort.
