Phyto 7 day cream: easy leave-in care for dry hair

You can tell dry hair by touch: slightly rough ends, lengths that puff up at the first hint of humidity, a head of hair that needs attention between washes. Rather than piling up bottles, many people look for a single product that stays in the hair and works with it all day. That is the job of Phyto 7 day cream, a leave-in product that fits in a handbag as easily as on the bathroom shelf.

What is Phyto 7 day cream?

According to the product sheet, it is a cream for all dry hair, with a melting texture and a gourmand scent. It is meant for the lengths and ends, nourishes the hair fibre without weighing it down and tames the hair; the manufacturer claims 48 hours of anti-frizz protection. It comes in a 50 ml size.

Its name comes from the seven botanical extracts in the formula: white mallow, calendula, rosemary, sage, burdock, soy and willow. All familiar garden and herbal plants: calendula is pot marigold (Calendula officinalis), with its orange flowers; burdock (Arctium) is known for its hooked burrs that cling to clothing; rosemary and sage are aromatic herbs of the mint family, the Lamiaceae.

How to use it

Our druggist recommends it as leave-in care to moisturise and protect the hair. The product sheet suggests two moments to apply it.

Before blow-drying

• After shampooing, squeeze your hair in a towel: it should be damp, not dripping.
• Take a small amount of cream – about the size of a pea for short hair, a little more for long hair.
• Warm it between your palms and work it through the lengths and ends, avoiding the roots.
• Detangle with a wide-tooth comb, then dry and style. According to the product sheet, this step helps protect hair from drying out.

As a finishing touch

• On dry hair, put a tiny amount on your fingertips.
• Smooth the ends and any unruly strands to tame your style.
• No need to rinse: the cream stays in until your next wash.

The golden rule: start with very little. A nourishing cream is easy to top up, whereas too much weighs fine hair down.

Precautions

A few simple rules. For external use on the hair only. Avoid contact with the eyes; if it happens, rinse with clean water. If your scalp is sensitive, apply the cream to the lengths only.
