Argiletz organic sage toothpaste: a soft taste with green clay

Sage long had its place close to home, in monastery gardens as well as in our grandparents' vegetable patches. Its aromatic scent, both warm and fresh, now turns up in a far more everyday gesture: brushing your teeth with Argiletz organic sage toothpaste.

What is this toothpaste?

According to the product sheet, it is a toothpaste based on green illite clay rich in trace elements, pleasantly scented with sage essences, which gives a real feeling of softness. It comes in a 75 ml tube.

Common sage (Salvia officinalis) is a small shrub of the mint family, Lamiaceae, native to the Mediterranean and easy to recognise by its velvety grey-green leaves. Illite, for its part, is a clay widely used in cosmetics for its fine texture.

Not quite like a standard gel

A clay paste does not look like a coloured gel: it is more matte and less sweet. Many people choose it precisely for that simplicity. If this is your first toothpaste of this kind, allow yourself a few days to get used to it before making up your mind.

How to use it

• Choose a soft-bristled brush and apply a pea-sized amount.
• Brush for about two minutes twice a day, using small movements and without pressing too hard.
• Remember every surface: outer, inner and chewing surfaces.
• Spit, rinse the brush and replace it once the bristles splay, usually about every three months.
• Between the teeth, use floss or interdental brushes as your dentist advises.

Sage or rosemary?

The same toothpaste also comes with rosemary, for those who prefer a livelier, more herbal note. Sage tends to suit people who like rounder flavours. Both share the same green clay base – you simply pick your scent.

Precautions

Worth remembering. Do not swallow toothpaste: spit it out after use. For children, ask for advice on the right formula and amount for their age. Read the ingredients on the packaging if you react to certain substances. Even the best toothpaste does not replace regular visits to the dentist. Keep the tube out of the reach of children.
