Clay in a toothpaste? The idea often comes as a surprise, yet clays have long been used in cosmetics for their fineness. At Argiletz, they are at the heart of the toothpaste range. The aloe vera version is a good example: a no-frills organic formula for everyday brushing.

What is in this toothpaste?

According to the product sheet (see the documentation tab), this toothpaste is made with green illite clay and aloe vera extracts, and is described as very rich in trace elements. It comes in a 75 ml tube and carries the word "bio" (organic) in its name.

Green illite clay

Clays are natural minerals made up of extremely fine particles. Illite is one of their main groups, and green illite clay is among the best known in cosmetics, where it is found in masks, powders and scalp care products. In a toothpaste, it provides a gentle mineral texture.

Aloe vera

Aloe vera (Aloe barbadensis) is a succulent plant grown in warm regions. Its thick, fleshy leaves contain a clear gel that is widely used in cosmetics, in gels, creams and hygiene products.

Brushing properly, step by step

A good toothpaste is not everything: how you brush matters at least as much. Here are the general recommendations commonly given:

  • At least twice a day, especially in the evening before bed, for about two minutes.
  • A soft-bristled toothbrush with a small, pea-sized amount of toothpaste.
  • Gentle movements from gum to tooth, without scrubbing hard from side to side.
  • Every surface: outer, inner and chewing surfaces, including the back teeth.
  • Spit out excess toothpaste and rinse the brush; replace it once the bristles start to splay, usually about every three months.

Precautions

Good habits. Toothpaste is not meant to be swallowed: spit it out after brushing. For children, use a toothpaste suited to their age, in a small amount and under adult supervision; ask us for help choosing. Avoid contact with the eyes. If discomfort, bleeding or sensitivity persists, see your dentist: a toothpaste replaces neither their advice nor regular check-ups.
