Doux anges: a fruit infusion of raspberry and cranberry
Intense raspberry, golden raisins and cranberries: the Doux anges infusion balances tartness and sweetness. Ingredients, quantities and ideas for serving it hot or iced.
Contents
Some days you want a hot drink without reaching for tea or coffee. A colourful, fragrant fruit infusion is just the thing. Doux anges is a fine example: a deep red cup in which raspberry takes the lead.
What is the Doux anges infusion?
According to the product sheet, Doux anges is a fruit infusion built around an intense raspberry note. Golden raisins and sweetened cranberries add the finishing touch and strike a balance between the pleasant tartness of the fruit and a gentle sweetness.
Here are the ingredients as listed on the product sheet:
- roasted apple pieces;
- hibiscus;
- sultana raisins (with sunflower oil as an anti-caking agent);
- rosehip shells;
- cranberries (cranberry, sugar, sunflower oil as an anti-caking agent);
- flavourings;
- freeze-dried raspberry granules.
Hibiscus, of which the dried calyces are used, is largely responsible for the drink's lovely red colour and its tangy edge. Rosehip, the fruit of the wild rose, and apple round out the blend. You will also notice that the list contains no tea: Doux anges is a pure fruit infusion.
How to prepare it
The product sheet gives precise quantities, which our druggist recommends following:
- Allow 6 g of infusion for 3 dl of water, about one large mug.
- Bring the water to the boil, at 100 °C: the fruit pieces need heat to release their flavour.
- Steep for 6 to 10 minutes, longer for a more intense cup.
- Strain, let it cool slightly, then enjoy.
As an iced drink
On warm days, make a pot using the same quantities, let it cool at room temperature, then put it in the fridge. Served with ice cubes and a few fresh raspberries, Doux anges becomes a colourful summer drink and a tasty way to drink water throughout the day.
Precautions
Before serving. Check the ingredients if you have a food allergy or intolerance: they include raisins, sweetened cranberries and flavourings. Let the drink cool before giving it to a child. Store the infusion in a tightly closed container, dry and away from light. If you have questions about your own situation, ask us for advice.
