Argiletz green clay paste: clay that is ready to apply

A clay mask usually takes a little organisation: measure the powder, add water, let it soak, then stir. Argiletz green clay paste skips all of that. It comes already hydrated, with a smooth texture you can spread straight from the jar – a real advantage if you like clay but are short of time, or if you use it regularly on larger areas.

What is green clay paste?

Green clay is a natural earth with a long tradition of external use in many regions, both as a mask and as a wrap. Its colour comes from the minerals it contains, and clays are grouped into families according to their structure, including illite and montmorillonite.

According to the product sheet, this is a green illite clay paste, carefully selected and suited to a wide range of applications. It comes in three sizes: 150 g, 400 g and 1 kg. Our druggist recommends it for external application, as a base for body care.

How to use it

As a face mask

• Cleanse your skin and pat it dry.
• Take a little paste with a clean spatula and spread an even layer, avoiding the eye area and lips.
• Leave on for about ten minutes. The usual advice is not to let clay dry out completely on the face; mist it with a little water if needed.
• Rinse with lukewarm water and apply your usual cream.

As a body wrap

• Spread a thicker layer, roughly half a centimetre to one centimetre, over the chosen area, such as the back, legs or shoulders.
• Cover with a cotton cloth or gauze to hold the clay in place and protect your clothes.
• Remove after the time you have chosen and rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.

Storing the jar

Close the lid after every use – that is what keeps the paste soft. Always use a clean spatula rather than your fingers, and never put clay that has already been applied back into the jar.

Precautions

Good to know. Clay paste is for external use only. As another product sheet in our green clay range points out, it must not be applied to open wounds. Avoid contact with the eyes; if it happens, rinse thoroughly with clean water. If your skin is reactive, try it first on a small area, such as the inside of the elbow. Ask for advice before use during pregnancy, for a child or if you are following a course of medical care. Keep the jar out of the reach of children.
